Instructor Bio

Denis Beissel has some 40 years experience in administrative management and logistics tasks, 36 of them as a United Nations administrative specialist. He ended his active UN career in 2003 as the Office-in-Charge of the UN Human Resources Office, at the Assistant-Secretary-General level.

Although the bulk of his work life was spent at UN headquarters in New York, he also lived and worked for some 10 years at the UN offices in Vienna and Geneva, and traveled extensively during a nearly 5 year assignment in the early 1990s with the peacekeeping administrative and logistics support division of Peacekeeping.

In New York, his principle accomplishment was a leadership role in the successful effort to streamline and automate the recruitment system. As a result, the entire recruitment and placement process can be carried out electronically from any location worldwide.
