-----------------------------------------------------------------------

We are very proud to announce that U.S. Department of Education application for eligibility as an AANAPISI institution (under Title III, Part F) is now open, and closes on September 13, 2010. This is the process by which institutions can qualify to apply for AANAPISI Title III, Part F funding when it is announced in the future. Eligibility requirements are addressed in the Federal Register notice available here: http://www.gpo.gov/fdsys/pkg/FR-2010-08-13/html/2010-20064.htm

Please note that becoming an AANAPISI with federal funding is a two-part process which consists of (1) applying for designation as an AANAPISI (this process) and then (2) applying for funding (a future process).

We hope that by sharing this information with you, we can increase awareness of the AANAPISI designation and funding opportunity for future competitions.

Please look forward to the announcement inviting applications for AANAPISI funding under Title III, Part F to come later this year.

As listed in the Federal Register notice, for further information about the Title III, Part F eligibility announcement please contact Kelley.Harris@ed.gov, 202-219-7083 or Carnisia.Proctor@ed.gov, 202-502-7606.

As this email is sent for informational purposes only, please contact one of these U.S. Department of Education contacts directly for questions about the process.

Thank you!

What is AANAPISI designation?

Asian American and Native American Pacific Islander Serving Institutions (AANAPISIs, commonly pronounced ANA-pee-zee) are federally-designated colleges and universities recognized for having at least a 10% Asian American and Pacific Islander student population as well as a significant percentage of low income students. AANAPISI institutions are eligible to apply for grant funds from the Department of Education to develop programs and services that improve the retention and success rates of Asian American and Native American Pacific Islander students. In turn, this strengthens the institution as a whole.
