Fairfax, Virginia - Asian Americans in Northern Virginia will hold their first ever Community Advocacy and Resource Day, hosted by Voice of Vietnamese Americans (VVA), where local communities and grassroots organizations will meet in a forum setting with elected officials and running candidates representing the newly redrawn districts to voice their issues and concerns.

“This free event held in the heart of Fairfax County will provide Asian American neighbors of all backgrounds the platform to learn and ask about issues that are critically important to them and also provide the opportunity to meet with elected officials,” Genie Nguyen, VVA president and co-founder, said. “VVA is proud to be working with many honorable local organizations to help put together this exciting event for the public.”

Community Advocacy and Resource Day seeks to educate the public about new districts after the 2011 redistricting process and will also present the latest trends in public policy issues important to local Asian Americans, such as jobs, health care, public safety, capital accessibility to small businesses, funding for higher education, domestic violence, and environmental protection.
