VVA Supports the American Jobs Act and Urges Congress for its Immediate Passage

September 15, 2011

Voice of Vietnamese Americans urges for the immediate consideration and passage of the American Jobs Act – a plan vital to putting and keeping our country in the right direction. VVA is reaching out to all Americans to contact their congressional elected officials and urge them to pass the bill as soon as possible.

President Obama on Sept. 8 unveiled the American Jobs Act. A fully paid-for bill with many bipartisan proposals, the American Jobs Act will jumpstart the U.S. economy by providing millions of job opportunities to hardworking Americans.

A sweeping jobs bill, the American Jobs Act lays out a plan to give U.S. employers, small business owners as well as homeowners the opportunity to put more money in their pockets. Specific initiatives include:

  • A payroll taxcut extension to let workers keep more of what they earn
  • Immediate aid programs to help Americans who are looking for work
  • More support for a jobs program that has created and saved over hundreds of thousands of Recovery Act-related jobs
  • A new Pathways Back to Work initiative will provide job opportunities and work-based training to hundreds of thousands of low-income women and more.

It is hearbreaking to hear stories from neighbors and communities across the country about situations where a family of four is on the brink of losing their home or about a single mother who just lost her job and has nowhere to turn to. These stories happen everyday, and for some unfortunate Vietnamese American families, it is the harsh reality.

We need to act now to urge our representatives to put the needs of hardworking Americans and their families first. We need to pass this bill.

Many Vietnamese Americans are busy small-business owners, professionals in numerous industries as well as earnest homeowners. At the same time, many Vietnamese Americans also come from low-income communities, which have been and still are the hardest hit communities from the recession.

We urge all Vietnamese Americans, Asian American Pacific Islanders and Americans from all backgrounds to push for the passage of this bill. It will revitalize our communities and immediately begin laying a strong foundation for our future.

Briefly, the Jobs act is a plan that will provide jobs to Americans seeking employment by supporting job training programs, implementing tax incentives for employers to spur hiring and other initiatives. Please e-mail me at veleh1025@gmail with what type of webcast you are describing. Do you mean to have a streaming video? video conference? or webinar? Thank you! -Vel
